The awards - we won!

You might know already, but we won two prestigious style awards on Thursday evening, including the award of the night, Most Stylish Shopping Destination, beating massive, well established shopping areas.

We're delighted to have won, as these awards are voted for by the public. We didn't realise until the night, but Grazia magazine were also involved in short listing the finalists for Best Vintage Boutique, showing that we're being noticed by the fashion elite!

Here's some photos from the night - there are more on our Facebook page at http://Facebook.com/birdsyardpage so why not log in, like us, and see some more!

Featured designer - Parlour Millinery

Melissa Dawson has been with us for almost two years, joining us just before Christmas 2010. At first she shared a shop with Kee Boutique but eventually scaled down to a cabinet due to her busy home life not giving her much time to work in the shop.

Now she works one full day a week as well as balancing having three children. We don't know how she does it!

Her hats can be found on etsy

 Cherry Hair clips - £9

Birdcage veils - from £15

New product wednesday

I got in this morning to a BUNCH of new things! So here's a round up of my faves

Sophie Adamson had her beautiful jewellery in before, but now she's brought in this horse head! We all love it, it's covered in swarovskis and took 11 weeks to make. Bit of a bargain at £200 I think

Ruby Shoesday makes the most lovely messenger bags for £15 - I just had to buy one!

Finally Parlour Milliner has been crocheting head warmers again. At £12.50 a pop it's worth it to keep your ears covered

Designer of the week - Belles Bejewelled

Belle has been in the shop for about 18 months, and her items always cause a stir. They're bold, statement jewellery, and almost always black (and if not, they're grey or white).

Her infamous piece is the 'crow' necklace, with pvc spikes emanating from a collar, and most of her work uses leather, pvc or jersey - but recently she's started making pieces out of laser cut perspex, and they're just as sculptural.

Featured Designer - Urban Fox Designs

Juliette, our dark horse, makes amazing screenprinted fabric, which she then uses to upholster furniture, or make into cushions. Last Christmas, her soft toy cats were best-sellers, so we're waiting to see what she brings out this festive season.

"Unique handmade and handscreen printed homewares. Inspired by nature and wildlife with an enigmatic twist."
